Goromonzi Rural District Council is set to conduct the Land Regularisation Exercise in Domboshava ward 4, a move that is expected to elevate the area from being a rural settlement to a Local Board, Domboshava Dot. Coms has learnt.

Reports from members of the RDC are saying the Regularisation process involves the registration and numbering of stands, and the widening of local roads that are currently being used by residents to access their houses.

Highly placed sources in the RDC told this publication that plans to carryout this move are at an advanced stage as council has already engaged the contractor who will be carrying out this exercise.

"The contractor who will carry out this project has already been engaged so the process will begin very soon.  What we will do from now is to engage the residents to notify them of our intent to carry out this exercise" said the source who refused to be named.

The move has raised  fears among some residents as rumours which are saying that council is moving in to demolish their houses and displace them have been circulating.

In an exclusive interview with Domboshava Dot. Coms,  Ward 4 Councillor Tapiwa Murima said no one is going to displaced by the move as it only seeks to bring order in the area.

"Residents should not be afraid of being displaced because the move is only meant to bring order in the area. Our residents have no tittle to the land they are occupying so the regularisation process will see people getting stand numbers and their stands being formally registered with council".

" The roads that are being used by the residents to access their houses are narrow and poorly planned so the move will also help council to widen those roads to accommodate 2 vehicles."

"Only those who are settled in places like Wetlands, Mountains and lands that are meant for schools and clinics may be relocated" he said.

Residents who had erected durawalls and fences in places where roads are narrow may be forced to removed them to pave way for the road widening exercise.
