Some Parents in Zimbiru Village have failed to send their children for Ecd and grade one education at Zimbiru Primary School as it is alleged to have demanded USD payments as part of its enrollment fees for children to be accepted at the school, Domboshava Dot Coms has learnt.
The enrollment process reportedly took place early this month where the school is alleged to have demanded a mandatory fee of 53Usd for uniforms from parents in order for their children to be enrolled.
Disgruntled parents who spoke to this publication said the school told them that they only wanted children who come to their school to wear uniforms made by their recommended tailor to maintain standards.
A parent who spoke to Domboshava Dot Coms said he failed to take his child to the school close to his home because he could not afford to raise the required money.
"I can not believe that i have failed to send my child to the school which is in my area because i could not raise the money that the school required."
Another parent said parents raised their complaints to the School Development Committee (SDC) Chairperson Mr Maruza who held a meeting with the School head to register their pleas.
The meeting saw the fee being reduced from Usd$53 to Usd$32.
"The Fee was reduced to Usd$32 after Mr Maruza had a meeting with the school head over the issue. But the reduction came late as most parents including myself had paid the $Usd53."
"We asked the school to give us refunds but it refused as the authorities said they were going to channel the money towards the development of the school" said the parent who refused to be named.
Domboshava Dot Coms established through whistle blowers that the tailor who was contracted to provide the uniforms is a lady who is renting the school's tuckshop called Mrs Muronda
Domboshava Dot Coms gathered information that every parent paid the fee in the tuckshop she is running instead of using the school's offices which are more professional.
Highly placed sources told this publication that the uniform supplier has a good relationship with the school head that is why she managed to secure the deal to supply uniforms to the school.
"We knew Mrs Muronda as a person who runs the schools tuckshop where our children buy snacks like jiggies, zap nacks, maputi and sweets prior to this development. The two have a good relationship no wonder why she managed to secure the tender to supply uniforms at the school. The uniforms are coming in batches and today some parents are set to receive the uniforms they paid for" said the source.
Efforts to get a comment from Zimbiru Primary School Head Mr Maluba were fruitless as he dropped the call the moment our reporter introduced himself and posed a question to him.
