Villagers in Zimbiru Village,  Ward four Domboshava have called on Authorities to construct more schools in the area as the majority of them failed to secure Ecd and grade 1 places for their children at Zimbiru Primary.

Speaking to this publication,  villagers said their local school no longer has the capacity to provide places for children in the areas due to the massive population increase that has been experienced in the area in recent times.

"The community has grown but we still have 1 Primary and 1 Secondary school in the area.  That's why we ended up having a situation where some parents spent the whole night in the queue only for their children to be enrolled at Zimbiru Primary.  We call on our local Authority to construct more schools for us" said a villager only identified as Mr Mugadza.

Another parent whose child was fortunate enough to get a grade one place at Zimbiru Primary school narrated how she struggled for her child to get a place as she slept on a queue and went through tough experiences.

" Getting a place for my son was hard. I had to sleep on a queue and go through a stampede for me to get a place for my child.  I also had to receive a lot of insults and harassment from the school's security guards. I feel pity for the older parents who could not get places for their children because they could not cope up with the difficult conditions we faced.  I call on authorities to construct more schools so that our children can get places to learn" she said.

Villagers told this publication that Zimbiru Primary School only managed to enroll 70 children for grade 1 and 130 children for Ecd in a community where thousands live.

With the year almost over,  a lot of parents are now stranded, a situation which has led them to call for authorities to quickly intervene.
